Job Description

Komar Industries is a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative waste and recycling equipment and solutions. Through our family of companies, we help customers improve operational efficiency, advance sustainability, and manage waste more safely and effectively.

Position Summary

The Fleet Manager oversees the acquisition, maintenance, utilization, compliance, and financial performance of Komar’s 100 plus fleet across the U.S. and Metro Compactor in Canada. This hands-on leader supports field service, installation, sales, and operations teams by improving vehicle reliability, reducing downtime, controlling costs, and standardizing fleet practices across locations and business units.

Key Responsibilities

Lead with Integrity by maintaining compliance with applicable U.S. and Canadian fleet requirements, including DOT, OSHA, Transport Canada, provincial, state, and local standards. Keep accurate vehicle, inspection, registration, insurance, warranty, and maintenance records. Coordinate accident reporting, claims, and corrective actions with Safety and HR.

Build What Lasts by managing preventive maintenance, repairs, vehicle assignments, and utilization to improve reliability and extend asset life. Lead procurement, leasing, rental approvals, replacement planning, and disposal based on total cost of ownership. Coordinate upfitting, branding, telematics, insurance, and vehicle onboarding and offboarding.

Own the Outcome by managing the annual fleet budget, capital plans, and operating costs, including maintenance, fuel, rentals, insurance, and vendor spending. Evaluate and manage fleet providers, negotiate service expectations, review invoices, and hold vendors accountable for cost and performance. Partner with Procurement, Finance, and Legal on contracts, renewals, and RFPs.

Empower Our People by partnering with field leaders, Operations, Safety, HR, and Metro Compactor leadership to provide dependable vehicles, reinforce driver accountability, and standardize fleet processes. Align Canadian fleet practices, reporting, and replacement needs with Komar’s broader strategy while addressing local operating requirements.

Advance with Purpose by using fleet systems, telematics, NetSuite, and Excel to track utilization, fuel use, downtime, maintenance costs, rental spend, accident rates, repair cycle time, and vendor performance. Turn findings into cost savings, stronger controls, and improvements in fleet efficiency and sustainability.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in fleet management, transportation, logistics, field service operations, or related operational leadership.
  • Experience managing 100 plus vehicle across multiple locations, including U.S. and Canadian fleet operations, maintenance, licensing, inspections, and compliance.

  • Strong communication, organization, vendor management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate priorities across teams, locations, and countries.
  • Hands-on leadership with accountability for safety, compliance, vehicle reliability, cost control, and follow-through.

  • CAFM, CAFS, or equivalent fleet certification.
  • Experience in industrial equipment, waste and recycling, manufacturing, utilities, or other service-based businesses.
  • Experience with NetSuite and Samsara.
  • Familiarity with sustainable fleet practices, fuel efficiency, emissions reduction, and alternative vehicle strategies.
